Like the message and the way it’s done. Nothing hi-tech. Just a man in a street using his voice and reason the let people hear his thoughts.
This video registration (done by friends of the speaker) was being tweeted in the early morning by @rvhooijdonk and I was “sold”. I wasn’t the only one. Lot’s of people retweeted that video in the dutch twittersphere. And so his voice reaches not only the people at the mall that day but an additional 150.000. The power of video + good message + internet = OK!

The talk by Jonathan Zittrain show us that internet (only) works on random acts of kindness.
I’ve been active on the net from 2000 and that was one of the things that struck me almost immediately. I first had the impression that because the medium was still young it had to do with the front-runners and that it will die out when the masses will come. They are here now and there are loads of examples telling that my fear will not become true.
When internet stays by the people and for the people, we as a people will do what morally is right. And internet will become what we all dream it can be. If not, “it’s just 45 minutes away from disaster” as Jonathan puts it speaking about Wikipedia.
The examples that Jonathan Zittrain shows us are just a few but they speak out very lively. Enjoy

For me she is stating the obvious.
It’s wonderful she wants to make people aware and I hope she will.
But the question is why aren’t people aware anymore? Why are we being alienated from the nature that surrounds us and we are dependent on?

I remember from my childhood that I learned something about the ecosystem and how it works but it was related to the systems and from a science point of view. Instead they should lay more emphasis on our part in nature where we fit in and what our responsibilities are.

We lost something as we gained more control over our environment. We lost the sense of dialog with nature. We need to feel what we are doing to it and us. Because we should be, like she said, and are connected to our planet.

You make me, a veggie for more then 10 years, feel good in a whole new way. Although I already have green power and gas, only use public transport and a bike, eat biological food and work with an organisation who preserves nature. Reading this back I just realised I’m a freak.

Chocked up with wet eyes. I know this is happening and I try to forget to keep alive. And give my sons a a warm and save future. Like I wish that on all living things. We are all one.

Came across this video on my Hard Disk today. Somewhere in 2005 I downloaded it from the archive.
At that time I was looking for footage on M.L.K. to get to know the man behind his historic speeches (I also listened to more then ones) a bit better. This episode struck me because of the title.
