The talk by Jonathan Zittrain show us that internet (only) works on random acts of kindness.
I’ve been active on the net from 2000 and that was one of the things that struck me almost immediately. I first had the impression that because the medium was still young it had to do with the front-runners and that it will die out when the masses will come. They are here now and there are loads of examples telling that my fear will not become true.
When internet stays by the people and for the people, we as a people will do what morally is right. And internet will become what we all dream it can be. If not, “it’s just 45 minutes away from disaster” as Jonathan puts it speaking about Wikipedia.
The examples that Jonathan Zittrain shows us are just a few but they speak out very lively. Enjoy
