The Parade
With this video I celebrate my old new vlog. Totally migrated (MT to WP), updated and redesigned.
And what better way to celebrate it with a digitized b/w super 8 film I got delivered this week. Thanks to Frank of the super8 reversal lab, an old friend from the Aki, school of Fine Arts.
I filmed this on Saint Patrick Day in Cork, Ireland. Studying and exploring the countryside over there.
It’s a sentimental treasure, because it was a spontaneous – improvised working concept. This is still my method of filming and editing today. It’s the biggest trill.

Some writing on going from old to new vlog.
In 2005 I started this vlog with Movable Type as engine because it looked good. And because the conference I was filming and going to publisch on a blog was organized by the head of Six Apart in France Loïc Le Meur. And it worked.
But after two years nothing much changed technically and the perl based blogengine became slower and slower. To top that it had some technical issues that could be resolved. So I got acquainted with WordPress.
This time I gave myself the following criteria:
1) Should be a classical blog
2) make it black (with the tendency to be more of a white person)
3) ajax style popup for the movie (seen on pouringdown.tv)
4) nice triggering images linking to movies
5) show more then one entry at the time and include text en meta data
6) make it ready for bigger movies, meaning 640 x 480
7) a descent header
8) keep it simple
9) show easy accessible related information like: blogroll, other blogfeeds, information about me, achives (sidebars)
10) straight forward navigation
11) some mystification
12) make it easy on myself
13) comply (more) to the most commonly used GUI
14) should look good
To achieve this I used a fair amount of themes as a starting point and took more then ones 5 steps forward and 4 steps back.
You decide if I succeeded.
